Beka cooper bloodhound6/27/2023 Shortly afterwards Beka rescues the scent hound Achoo from being maltreated by her present handler, Ercole Hempstead. Thus Beka is back with her old training partners Clara Goodwin and Matthias Tunstall again. But she seems to have bad luck with her partners as the last one, the fourth, just asked for a reassignment. Rebakah Cooper is finally a full member of the Provost's Guard and has her own partner with whom she patrols the streets of the Lower City of Corus. But both women also find new friends in Nestor Haryse and his landlord and the gamblers Dale Rowan and Hansevor Remy. It's not very helpful, either, that the Deputy Provost, Sir Lionel of Trebond, disapproves of Beka and Goodwin's being there. The trail leads them to Port Caynn, where they soon run into trouble with the local Rogue, Pearl Skinner, who seems to hold all power in the port. Together with her former training partner Clara Goodwin she has to leave Corus to find out where the false coins, which have gotten into the moneystream and are beginning to cause an inflation, come from. By now she has finished her training and is a full member of the Provost's Guard. A sequel to Terrier, Bloodhound continues the tale of Rebakah Cooper. Bloodhound is book two in the Provost's Dog trilogy.

The iron hunt by marjorie m liu6/26/2023 All through the book, the Aetar keep trying to kill any or all of Maxine's group. Then, they drop poisoned humans on the farm, poisoning not just Grant's demons, but also Grant, Maxine, and Maxine's personal demon boys. In the first scene, the Aetar make the first of several attacks on Maxine, her unborn child, and her husband by sending a gang of demonic giants after them. You really need to read the fourth novel to understand that whole situation. I'm not even going to try to explain how and why the demons are attached to Grant. The couple is living on Maxine's mother's farm in Texas, mostly because Grant is hosting four different demon clans and they need lots of space and isolation to keep the demons as far away as possible from the human population, not to mention the fact that they're trying to provide livestock to feed them so that the demons don't wander off and eat any humans. Even though Maxine and Grant have tried to keep her pregnancy a secret, word has leaked out to their enemies in the magical world. As the novel opens, Maxine is in the early stage of her pregnancy, and because of her unique genetic heritage, she knows that her child will be a girl.

Torkel's Chosen by Michelle Howard6/26/2023 “Why is there a shortage?” Gregir challenged from behind her and leaned over the back of the sofa invading her personal space.įaye cringed and shoved her hands between her legs to still the shaking. I guess I’m okay with exotic but I applied to the program because of the shortage of men on my planet.” Something different from what they have at home.”įaye hadn’t thought of that. Women who are in the SP are looking for the exotic. One of the red uniformed-clad men eyed her from head to toe before explaining Arak’s remark. It reminded her of being surrounded by predators. More of the group prowled closer and a few joined her on the sofa. “What?” She glanced around at their avid stares. “Why would you leave your home to claim men who look the same?” “Most of you look human to me.”Īrak grimaced. “You’re our first human.”įaye leaned far back in her seat and tucked her feet to the side. The man with the scar, Kyele, took the seat across from her. The statement was more a command that usually she would have protested against but Faye gratefully sat on the edge. The odd furniture had a high back and was low to the floor. Jaron pointed to a long sectional that curved on the ends. If she didn’t know better, Faye would have assumed they were humans. Most of them were blond and blue eyed though there were a few like Arak and Torkel who had shades of brown hair. They stared as if they’d never seen a woman before. Faye stayed exactly where Torkel left her as the men gathered around her.

Rhapsodic by laura thalassa6/25/2023 This exploration of the Otherworld and its people is my favorite part of this book. We meet old friends of Des and are introduced to his fellow fae rulers. We are able to move beyond the walls of Des’ castle to explore all corners of the Kingdom of Night, as well as the royal residence of the Kingdom of Flora. In fact, the entire story is set in the Otherworld. Fortunately, the same cannot be said of A Strange Hymn. One of my biggest criticisms of Rhapsodic was its lack of world building, as only a few chapters take place in the Otherworld. Simply put, A Strange Hymn feels more substantial and fleshed out than its predecessor. It broadens the story, shifting it from being singularly focused on Des and Callie’s relationship to encompassing world building and plot development. Whereas Rhapsodic is a romance with some fantasy sprinkled in, A Strange Hymn is a fantasy with a healthy dash of romance. It is a rare occasion indeed when I prefer a sequel to the original, but that is precisely how I feel with regard to A Strange Hymn. TLDR: A sequel that is superior on all counts to Rhapsodic.

Under one roof ali hazelwood review6/25/2023 Probably my favourite of the three novellas, I particularly enjoyed the well-paced build up of romantic tension between Mara and Liam. Liam isn’t pleased to be sharing his space with a stranger, and the two try to stay out of each other’s way, but their forced proximity soon breaks down the walls between them. In Under One Roof, Mara, an environmental engineer who has just landed her dream job at the Environmental Protective Agency, inherits half ownership in a Washington DC house from her late mentor, and learns she’ll be sharing it with her mentor’s great nephew, a lawyer for an oil company. Each novella works as a standalone, however they are linked in that they each feature one of three best friends, Mara, Sadie and Hannah, who are in regular contact across all of the story’s. Having read great things about Ali Hazelwood’s debut, The Love Hypothesis, and her sophomore novel, Love on the Brain, I couldn’t resist the lure of Love to Loathe You, a collection of three novella’s, which have previously been published separately.
